Compress images

Shrink JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF and SVG files with the best balance of quality and size. Compress many images at once.

How to compress an image

  1. Click Select images or drop your files onto the page.
  2. Choose a compression level. Recommended works best for most photos.
  3. Click Compress images and download the results one by one or as a ZIP file.

Smaller files, same look

Large images slow down websites, fill up inboxes and eat storage. This tool re-encodes your images with modern encoders: MozJPEG for JPG, OxiPNG plus smart colour reduction for PNG, and libwebp and libavif for WebP and AVIF. Animated GIFs keep their animation, and SVG files are cleaned up with SVGO.

Your images stay on your device

Compression runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it is fast and private, and it also works for confidential images.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes. You can compress as many images as you like, with no account, no watermark and no daily limit.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens in your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent anywhere.

Which compression level should I choose?

Recommended gives a large size reduction with no visible quality loss for most photos. Use Extreme when size matters most, and Low when quality is the priority.

Why didn't my file get smaller?

Some images are already well optimized. If compression cannot make a file smaller, we keep the original so you never get a bigger file.

Does it remove EXIF metadata?

Yes. Compressed JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files no longer contain EXIF data such as camera details or GPS location. The image rotation is applied first.
